Modular vs. Manufactured Homes

Modular homes are built to be durable like any newly built home and shouldn’t experience the depreciation of either manufactured housing or RV’s. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), modular homes are built to the same local, county, and state building codes as site-built homes.

Manufactured homes on the other hand (or mobile homes as they’re often referred to), are constructed according to the federal HUD Code.

Manufactured homes typically have flimsy construction with thin walls that neither insulate well nor endure well. They are easy to spot due to their slight roof pitch and boxy shape.
